An impolitic title. One hopes that the actual orphans never see this. I suppose the same could be said in retrospect for the families of Apollo 1.
I don’t think there are any orphans. Alsbury’s wife is still alive, AFAIK.
The title in the linked article is “Orphans of SpaceshipOne“, with a story of the gap between SS1’s X-prize win and the time since. I’m thinking the gap story is a bit more interesting to Howard and Hanks than a 21st Century remake of Oliver!
