It is incorrect to say that scientists don’t operate in secret. This happens all the time at government research facilities. The results do not get published in the public journals for national security reasons.
That said, a scientist who does publish his results had better be able to make his raw data publicly available, or he’s a fraud.
Hmm. Climate Change as a matter of national security!! Yeah, yeah, *that’s* the ticket! We’ve heard that posturing before. And NOAA’s already operating as if it were a black ops outfit…. Someday maybe Navy Seals will be dispatched to secretly plug up power plant smokestacks in the third world!!! A whole new meaning to a “Seal” team…
