“Of course, the Intelligent Designers will have a field day with it.” Why this more than any other of the millions of incredibly intricate mechanisms in natural life?
I understand that if the gear had a number embossed on the side, accurately telling the gear ratio… (‘Course, sounds like it’s 1, so – ooh, I think I see it!)
But there is no question that nature contains infinite examples of incredible design. How it got there is the issue.
Note how they start with the conclusion…
“These gears are not designed; they are evolved”
How does this conform to a scientific perspective?
Starting with a conclusion makes it easy to either fill in or gloss over the facts. Evolution in a nutshell. If you came across a gear (not even a functional mechanism) in the desert would you conclude it an interesting natural formation? In some cases perhaps, but over and over in numerous ways?
Wow, insect Posi-trak!
