We’re heading down to Borrego Springs for a long weekend of wildflower viewing and star gazing. I’ll take the laptop, but blogging may be light.

Nice plan. Weather here is not conducive to those pastimes this weekend. Still really brown although we have little snow left. And it’s overcast. Naked eye stargazing?
Yes, we don’t have a telescope.
Sometimes it’s best to just use your eyes. Beautiful moon with Venus tonight. I do like to take binoculars. Sounds like you had a good trip.
Borrego is pretty awesome — haven’t been down there in a while, but maybe it’s about time. Some great off-roading down there.
Lacking another thread, let me provide my support here to Patrick Moore’s recent comments, including: “There is no scientific proof that human emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) are the dominant cause of the minor warming of the Earth’s atmosphere over the past 100 years. If there were such a proof it would be written down for all to see.”

I agree with the sentiment, but he should have said something like “little compelling scientific evidence.” The phrase “scientific proof” is an oxymoron.
Technically true but it leaves little wiggle room for the warmist scientific morons to argue.
Also, sometimes you have to speak in the language they understand, whether the wording is correct or not.
What I think is best stated is where Mr. Moore claims he is skeptical of anthropometric global warming. This goes against the game global warming cultist like to play in calling people deniers. They want to claim people foolishly deny climate change, when they may deny global warming, or claim they deny global warming, when a person may simply deny anthropometric global warming.
I personally think the climate is changing and that change is cyclical, although overall may trend one way or another over a multi-decade snapshot. But I think that cyclical change has far more to do with natural phenomenon than humans, and that the overall trend does as well. Am I’m therefore skeptical that climate change is occurring? No. Might I accept global warming overtime is occurring? Yes. Am I skeptical that global warming overtime is caused primarily by humans? Yes.
