This makes sense:

Let’s be clear. Libya was the only Arabic-speaking country — maybe Iraq a few months ago — where the United States could have taken over protection without any political consequences. It is a real client state. And its security forces, being so new and so fully penetrated by the enemy, are probably the least competent. In contrast, when they let you get beaten up or overrun in Egypt, that’s on purpose.

So I wonder whether a serious investigation would discover that Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton decided to show trust in Muslim allies — make them feel better about themselves, prove the United States wasn’t a bully but a real nice friend — and that led to the deaths of the Americans.

I don’t wonder much at all. And yes, the president did inadvertently speak the truth; Egypt is no longer an ally in any useful sense of the word. Thanks to him.

But if he’s reelected, they’ll continue to get their hundreds of millions in aid.

    Romney has said he would maintain the roughly $1.5 billion in aid the U.S. sends Cairo each year and would continue engaging with the Muslim Brotherhood government there.

Obama won but many of these people lost.their homes because they couldn’t afford them. Now Obama wants to take action against predatory lenders that give loans to poor minorities that can’t afford them.

  3. sticky situation for sure…Egypt has to buy a significant amount of food to feed themselves, the aid we provide may be a big source of that money, meaning that cutting aid would lead to potential starvation

  4. Take your chances. Al-Qaeda in Libya or the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt. Sure a lot of the Libyan population are against what Al-Qaeda did. The Libyan “civil war” was in fact a foreign invasion so the population is not of the same mind as their new masters which seek to create a global Muslim Empire under Sharia law.

  7. One thing to keep in mind is that in Egypt, the Army still holds a serious measure of power. That aid – *if* it gets to the Army, might afford some measure of influence.
