You call this a recovery?
This is what happens when you put people in charge who not only don’t understand how economies work, but think that it’s more important to redistribute wealth than to create it.

So, like, how come Mr. Romney isn’t telling that story? His fund raising letter is this weak-tea “I believe in America.”
“I believe in America.” You’re right, it’s just a slogan… or is it?
It does go to where wealth comes from (hint: not the govt.) Huge govt. spending increases indicate an Obama Administration that doesn’t have a clue. This doesn’t mean Romney will be any better, but this is why you change admins until you get it right.
What’s the alternative?
A wealthy woman is invited to serve on the board of a “reform school” for “wayward boys.” This appointment was really a fund-raising exercise as the other directors expected her to open her checkbook rather than contribute to the operation of the school. But their wealthy donor was not disuaded and spent the next 4 week volunteering at the school as a way to get a measure of the place.
“A fine school you have here, sirs,” she sniffed at the other directors, “but the quality could be improved measurable were you to recruit a better class of boy!”
“SQUIRREL!”
There Paul, fixed that for you
In response to “What’s the alternative” (to Mr. Romney at this late date), I responded with my joke about the rich lady and the reform school. “Sirs, we could have a better chance of victory in November if we had a better class of candidate.”
This is like the upper class snob lady who wanted “a better class of boy” in the reform school. The reform school doesn’t have a better class of boy because it is a reform school. If some upper class kid gets into trouble and gets kicked out of school, it is handled a lot differently. The Republican Party doesn’t have a better candidate than Mr. Romney as Mr. Romney’s impending nomination is the result of a political process that involves personalities and factions and history and other stuff like that.
The joke is also self-deprecating as I am drawing an analogy between me and the clueless lady. It is also a riff on Mr. Romney being wealthy (by dint of hard work, but wealthy nonetheless).
So am I supposed to understand the meme about a rodent creature I see outside my house? I did some searches on slang terms, and they were all a lot more vulgar than my comments, jokes, and opinions merit.
Paul, the obvious answer to “what’s the alternative” is Obama…Ken’s sentence immediately prior to his question spoke of the upcoming US presidential election
Since the squirrel reference eluded you, please rent the animated Disney movie “Up”. Enjoy!

I have a slightly different take on that. I think they have this fantasy that the wealth is always there. And that nothing they do interferes with rich fat cats generating wealth.
To them, wealth is a bottomless pail. It’s just………….there.
And they think it will always be there.
