Ever since the awarded it to LA, I’ve been wondering how they were going to get it from LAX to Exposition Park without pulling off wings or vertical stabilizer, given all the overhead and street-width issues on city streets. Well, here’s a description of the route. Despite what they say, I’ll bet some old trees will die for this.

Correct that title, it is “Endeavour” after Captain Cook’s ship
Screw that limey — I’m an American. 😉
Rand, that is the _actual name_ painted on the side.
I know. I still don’t care.
Charles,
You are correct. NASA specifically used the English spelling instead of the American to honor Capt. Cook’s ship.
I note Houston used a barge to get the former KSC “shuttle” to its new home. I seem to recall suggesting it would be that easy, and was told it couldn’t be done as easy as LA “who had a plan”.
You’re confusing two different things.
The plan is to ship the Shuttle *mockup* to Houston by barge.
The plan for the actual orbiter was to fly it to Ellington Field, then store it there until Space Center Houston raised the money to display it. Which might be a long time given SCH’s track record when it comes to fundraising. (Unlike the mockup, the actual orbiter can’t be displayed outside.)
Well, it certainly promises to be a better attraction than that over-hyped boulder that was towed across the streets of LA at night (for fear of being seen in public with it, no doubt). I do question their decision to park the orbiter in the worst neighborhood in town – it’ll be up on blocks, the doors all tagged, stereo ripped out, within a week.
