Playing With Themes

If things look a little weird around here, it’s because I’m updating my WordPress theme.

[Update a while later]

Well, the changeover went smoothly, but I’ve got a lot of patching up to do. Can anyone look at the source and tell me why the Amazon image and an ad image above it that I’m trying to display aren’t showing up? Or do you need to see the style sheets, too?

[Update a couple minutes later]

Never mind on the ad problem; I fixed it.

  1. Not to be overly critical, mainly because I have zero idea of the software capabilities you were working with, but I have literally hated the original color scheme since day one.

Only the great content kept me coming back.

  2. I right-clicked on the Amazon image and got the URL and opened that in a new tab; this was the result:
    Gone
    The requested resource
    /exec/varzea/tipbox/A2ZLELUKD189WJ/T16V1VOVPOEC07
is no longer available on this server and there is no forwarding address. Please remove all references to this resource.

Additionally, a 410 Gone error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

  3. Plus if you’re looking for another WordPress theme you might give Atahualpa a try. I had initially rejected it because it was hideously customizable through the tools interface, but after trying a couple of dozen free (and two premium) themes, I gave Atahualpa a second try. It turns out it does all but one of the dozen things I need a theme to do, and I can live without that one thing. See my page and check out the Atahualpa forum.

      1. I have no idea how the “make money” from Amazon works. I have purchased from it, and I hope you got the cut. However, the Amazon graphic that doesn’t display says “Amazon Honor System”. Perhaps their is a new graphic for Amazon’s current system that will work?

  4. FWIW, I’ve never been able to see the Amazon image, just the “broken image link” icon.

      1. The wolf used to appear in the background, but now the central part of the page is opaque. It seems to load faster, though.
