I think that all attempts to reference a black swan as a metaphor were screwed by the Natalie Portman ballet movie of the same name. I consider the movie as a black swan event that rendered references to actual black swan events confusing and overlaid with metrosexual overtones, along with pregnant questions about whether she danced the performances as portrayed.
