One way of sorting this problem out is to increase the cost to pirates of failing. IMHO the phrase “sunk with all hands” ought to become routine in accounts of piracy. If your village sends out a shipload of pirates and neither the pirates nor the ship are ever seen again…
According to this post at StrategyPage, you could almost say the Somali pirates are enjoying Obamanomics as much as the rest of us.
We just need to RE-arm all commercial vehicles. Heavily at that.
My older son has done a couple cruises over there, he’s gone again now. He says most of the ‘pirates’ are using boats that are less than 75′ long. Many are way smaller and work in swarms.
If they came up against some .50 cal machine guns or even just a couple sniper rifles, it would make them think twice.
