Ah, they’re just doing the limbo. “How low can you go.”
A recent radio news report (California Report / NPR) discussed pending legislation to improve the availability of regulatory agency applications etc. online. The hypothetical new business the report mentioned was a “hair-cutting business”, for which only some of the 16 CA state agency applications required were currently online.
16? Really? And that’s just at the state level, never mind local issues.
The reporter apparently did not bat an eye at this number, as it passed by un-commented-on.
That’s insane. Here is Kentucky’s sample barbershop license renewal, which by law costs less than $50 a year. As far as I know, all it takes here is a simple business license and a $30 certificate from the KY board of barbering.
No wonder Californians have such weird hair.
I was going to start a business in central CA once. It was in a little town and as I’d started businesses before in other places I expected it would be as simple as getting a tax id. After jumping through a number of hoops I decided it wasn’t worth it.
