  1. Maryland, where I live, supposedly has the highest rate of vitamin D deficiency in the country. Our doctor (who is marginal, IMHO) has us taking supplements because everyone in my family is deficient. I can’t imagine the reason for this.

    The medical community is not fully on board with vitamin D supplements, and there’s been something of a backlash against them recently. I can’t figure that one out, either.

  2. I remember when Vitamin E was the Wonder-drug. Everyone from vegans to raging carnivores were telling you to take excess doses of E as an fabulous anti-oxidant.

    As is my typical style I procrastinated on that one. Finally a few years after the craze began I was getting my yearly physical and I asked the doc if I should be taking extra E for anti-oxidant value.

    he laughed – where the heck have you been? That was disproved 2 years ago.

    Oh.

    So what is a Wunderdroge today is a joke tomorrow. Do those guys really know what they are talking about? I dunno.
