The comments are hilarious. “I for one welcome our new nano quadrotor overlords” was already taken, however.
Could you both answer this question tonight: Now that Gingrich has lost Florida and moon bases have been ridiculed, what should a space fanboi do? Should I curl up into a ball and stop going to work? Should I spend at least 30 minutes a day posting pro-space arguments on blogs and social media? Should I make 3D animations highlighting various near-future pro-space scenarios?
Actually nothing really has changed. NASA HQ has long been hostile to Moon initiatives while the public has long had a feeling of been there, done that, who
cares. Over the last year I have been working with the folks in Hawaii to get the ILRP going. NASA Ames is supportive but NASA HQ basically wants nothing to do with it. Incidentally, I think this is a good thing as both support and NASA funding are fickle things that have no place in a sustainable and viable long term plan to return to the Moon.
So the public making a joke of Speaker Gingrich’s moon proposal is probably a good reminder that politicians and lobbying are NOT going to open space for settlement. Its going to be individuals working together based on a Beyond NASA model.
This is utterly off-topic, but I found this on YouTube while looking for something else.
