I’m sorry – the linked article puts in the list of threats to the US “the Turkish regime.”
Since when is Turkey a threat? Because, right now under Article 8 of NATO, we are required to defend Turkey if they are attacked. Presumably, our air bases IN TURKEY will be used for this purpose.

Turkey’s political leadership has shifted to become less friendly to America and some of our allies. Whether or not you see that as threat or not, it is something to keep a skeptical eye on.
