   I do not think that word means what he thinks it means. Or, it’s another display of liberal misogyny, essentially the equivalent of “throwing like a girl”.

   1. A distaff isn’t eight quarter staffs or two whole staves?

2. If the Republicans were trying to throw the election, what exactly would they be doing differently?

3. Starting from, say Nixon, and *excluding* Reagan, which GOP candidate, in their first general election for Prez, would you all consider was better than the current field?

   Nixon? Mr. Wage and Price controls?

   Ford?

   Bush I – maybe. He had much better experience by far.
   – Think he could beat Obama? maybe..

   Bush II?

   Reagan has become the Gold Standard. They don’t appear all that often.

      All of them. The way it looks now, none of these clowns are going to beat Obama.

4. I don’t get it. All the long faces. In 2008 Romney was considered to be more reliably conservative than McCain and was doing fine until Huckabee slapped the un-electable tag on him for his Mormonism. What’s different about Romney now?

   There’s been so much wrong-doing in Obama’s presidency. If Romney and his PACs were to be as tough on him in the general election as they are on Romney’s rivals in the primary, Obama would be toast.

   Cheer up, people! And if you really care about fixing the mess, get out the checkbook and help a Senate candidate.

5. Weigel is lying when he says the “hand shows” remark hurt Thompson. It helped him.

   The subtext is, “See, I can distort history and you’re too cowardly to fight back.”

   Republicans need to man up and start tracking down and killing these subhuman trash.

   1. Ok, that was a bit over the line. I get in these moods sometimes.

      I wouldn’t, however, if Republicans would start fighting for their views, instead of letting people like David Frum run the party.

6. The difference is, I hope, that Obama isn’t going to be able to fool as many people as he did the first time around.

   And hopefully Romney won’t decide to suspend his campaign in September so he can panic the markets and simultaneously demonstrate that he’s a clueless old man. I was all set to vote against Obama until that happened. Then I decided that voting against McCain was more important. This time around, Romney isn’t even close to generating the same level of distaste as that Obama fellow.
