The researchers have created a strain of bird flu that can leap between ferrets, by passing the flu through multiple animals and letting it adapt.
Terrorists could do the same thing, by artificially propagating the flu through multiple human subjects (be they volunteers or kidnapped victims.) And the result would be a killer flu adapted to humans, not ferrets.
But I like ferrets! They’re like little fur slinkies.
This research is entirely too close to a “12 Monkeys” scenario.
