If we have to lay off American workers, we will give them severance payments equal to their weekly wage times the number of months they’ve worked for us.
I’ve worked for my employer for 16 1/2 years, or 198 months. Does this moron actually expect my employer to pay me for almost 4 years should I be laid off? That’ll never happen, and if morons like Reich had his way, it’d mean companies would not only dump their most junior employees regardless of their contributions to the company, they’d resist hiring anyone else.
“Liberal fascist” Isn’t that redundant?
“We pledge not to use our money to influence elections.”
I wonder if Robert would require the same pledge from the unions, private and public.

Whoa, cool! 1/4 total pay for severance! A fella could have a pretty good weekend in Vegas for that. That would be great, except for having to pay for everybody else’s severance, and the perverse incentives for prolonging and inflating employment past the economically efficient level.
What would it take to entice someone with 10 years’ seniority to change jobs? How would business react to a sudden tax on terminations? How would senior employees react to business’ sudden reluctance to lay them off?
I’m like JP Gibb, it’s quite redundant.
And it gives me the willys that a guy who’s name is spelled r-e-i-c-h is out there demanding loyalty oaths! I’m guessing that he doesn’t personally see that as a bit of a problem.
Seems a shame he doesn’t get it, and he’s SO smart too!
What’s so fascist about loyalty oaths?
From his silly oath:
