…not very:
Barack Obama wants to run for reelection posing as a crusader for clean government battling against the special interests. In 2008, I know that Obama convinced much of the press corps that he was running a “cleaner” campaign than his rivals.
Obama attracted some libertarian, moderate, and conservative support because he convinced people he would bring good government to the White House and curb the influence of special interests. Even if his is a liberal White House, the thinking went, at least it will be a HONEST liberal White House.
Team Obama has already indicated it plans to try to ride this wave again in 2012. David Axelrod pushed these lines on Sunday morning television. And now, liberal columnist Jonathan Alter, intimately dialed into the West Wing, is trumpeting this very argument. I quote Alter’s claims not to pick a fight with him, but because if Alter is saying it, you can bet this is the talk behind closed doors in Obama’s inner circle.
“He has one asset that hasn’t received much attention: He’s honest.”
But Obama frequently tells blatant falsehoods about important matters, and then in a Clintonian fashion explains how some interpretation of his words could be made to correspond to the truth.
For your consideration, I provide some counter-examples:
Lots of links there.
It’s almost ALL lies with this administration. I’ve regularly been shocked by their willingness to toss out any credibility over what are often (comparatively) trivial issues.
While I think they know about the Obamacalypse to come, they must be really desperate to walk down this path. This administration’s lies are so plentiful and so well documented than the GOP will be able to kill him and other Democratic candidates on that alone. They’re better off just focusing on the usual class warfare crap, as awful as that is.
This administration’s lies are so plentiful and so well documented than the GOP will be able to kill him and other Democratic candidates on that alone.
I think you are giving the Republicans too much credit.
Libertarians, Conservatives and Moderates voted for BHO?
The third crowd I get voting for Obama. But anyone who CALLS themselves Libertarian or Conservative and voted for him needs to check those credentials at the voting booth next time.
And as poor a choice as McCain was, he was light years ahead of Obama .
In his novel “Glory Road,” the late, great Robert Heinlein said a person should never trust a reform politician as opposed to a corrupt or “machine’ politician. The reason being that the “corrupt” politician feels he or she feels the need to keep any promises made in order to stay in business. The reform politician, on the other hand, can always justify breaking a promise because it’s for the “greater good.”
then in a Clintonian fashion
Obama’s not that good. Actually, I wouldn’t even say Obama even tries to explain his change of mind. It’s more Orwellian. MiniTru just provides the new story line, and what was said in the past just enters the memory hole.
