  1. This link from the comments is… entertaining. One David Roberts posits “The denialism or indifference of CWM [conservative white men] toward climate is a huge barrier to getting anything done.”

In this post, I’m going to argue that the typical strategies are doomed to failure. It may be that the simplest, least clever strategy — kick their [metaphorical] asses — is still the way to go.

I don’t have the time but I’m thinking a person could spend a few hours in the comment section over there and come up with quite a bit of good stand-up material.

  2. In this chamber, 63 CERN scientists from 17 European and American institutes have done what global warming doomsayers said could never be done — demonstrate that cosmic rays promote the formation of molecules that in Earth’s atmosphere can grow and seed clouds, the cloudier and thus cooler it will be. Because the sun’s magnetic field controls how many cosmic rays reach Earth’s atmosphere (the stronger the sun’s magnetic field, the more it shields Earth from incoming cosmic rays from space), the sun determines the temperature on Earth.

I am not a climate scientist, and my field of expertise is nowhere near that field of study. My opinion on this subject is that AGW has never had the impact on Earth’s climate as preached by Gore and the ‘alarmists’ over the past decade or so.

But these guys better publish everything related to these findings…the data, the computer modeling source code, the works, so that someone can independently reproduce this stuff. I demanded the same from the alarmists and I am not changing my tune when the argument swings in the other direction

  3. “But these guys better publish everything related to these findings…the data, the computer modeling source code, the works, so that someone can independently reproduce this stuff.”

    You mean provide, not publish.
Not aware of them refusing to provide any of the data, or anything else.

    Unlike others.

ask uva under federal court order for foia request?

  5. “There was a session on solar, cosmic rays on clouds, timely in view of the CERN article. Svensmark, Shaviv and Veizer were there as well as Ilan Koren (of the predator-prey article on clouds) and Christiannson, a critic of Scensmark’s. Lindzen made an interesting overview lecture. I suggested to him that he place data (including collated intermediates) and code for Lindzen and Choi online so that more people can handle the statistics for themselves – he’s more than agreeable to that.”

  6. It’s rather ironic that Al would make that particular comparison, since it was skeptical Southern Democrats like Al Gore’s father who refused to believe blacks were equals, were skeptical about repealing Jim Crow laws, and voted against the Civil Rights Act, etc.

It’s doubly ironic that Al and his fellow CAGW alarmists are in opposition to LBJ’s war on poverty, adopting a staunch pro-poverty policy where energy, and thus food, clothing, and shelter, will be priced out of reach for most Americans, especially women and minorities.

  7. Not really.

If that’s true, perhaps the answer is not to reduce intensity in hopes of attracting CWM. Perhaps the answer is to increase intensity in order to overcome CWM. Intensity is increased first and foremost through organizing, but also through clear, inspiring messages that draw sharp lines between those fighting for progress and those fighting against it.

Like the proverbial ugly-american tourist in Europe, “Speak louder and slower. And… look intense while you’re doing it.”

This is an even better gem from Friar Roberts.

I like denying climate change almost as much as I like Lynyrd Skynyrd!
