  1. The Brotherhood and other Islamists say they want “democracy,” and many Americans (particularly in media and government) are taken in by these claims. But the Brothers don’t want democratic culture — they want sharia. What they suddenly like about democracy is popular elections. Democracy, as they construe the term, is just a route to power, which would enable them to Islamize their societies.

    This is also the major failing of the neo-cons. As we saw in Gaza, Hamas took over through elections and then later solidified their control through a bloody coup.

    If we want the ME to become “westernized” then we should beef up VOA to include free satellite tv with all of the crap we watch here in the states.

  3. Obambi and Silliary suffer from the syndrome that all ‘rational’ (Liberals & lefties) suffer from. They think everybody thinks just the way they do. This defies the fact that the only rational course in international politics is to pursue your nation’s self-interest. Obambi and Sil think they can win points by going around and doing favors for other people, including potential enemies. In IR, this isn’t viewed as being nice, but as being weak. Actually, I though Sil was tougher minded than that. This was probably naive of me.

    Warning sign: the insult the Chinese delivered to Biden yesterday in China at a news conference, when they tried to force reporters out of the room after saying the Biden’s speech was too long, and that be failed to get to the point. Yes, Joe is a nitwit, but he’s still our VP,, and considering how much emphasis the Chinese place on face (I’ve seen this in action), this is not a good sign. The USA is becoming the Rodney Dangerfiedl of international politics.
