Since Hitler’s death, the world has defined anti-Semitism down. Nurturing ancient fantasies of secret Jewish cabals that control the media and play politicians like puppets on a string, and making political judgments based on these fantasies isn’t sort of or almost anti-Semitic. To believe that Jews control public discourse and the media and bend the gentile masses to their sinister agenda is the essence of old fashioned anti-Semite. In some countries these beliefs are so common that they are no longer recognized as an aggressive and communicable mental disease. These ideas have become so widely accepted that they are seldom questioned or examined; when that happens, a whole society is poisoned and distorted.
The irony, of course, is not that it has become so prevalent on the left, but that those same leftists continue to attempt to rewrite history and claim that Hitler was of the “right.”
They’re not even aware, for the vast majority of cases, that they’re rewriting history.
They’re just repeating the Received Wisdom of Soviet agitprop; everyone has always told them, since the day they first heard of Hitler, that he was “right wing”.
It’s too bad “Semite-phobia” doesn’t roll off the tongue. Otherwise those of us opposed to anti-Semitism could deploy the same propaganda tools that gay & lesbian groups have… the skillful deployment of “homophobia” cuts off discussion and marginalizes opposing views with frightening effectiveness.
I agree that Hitler was a Leftist, but the deeper truth is that it doesn’t matter. Even if he had been a right-winger, he still would be a piker compared to Stalin or Mao, or, relative to the number of people he ruled, Pol Pot or any number of other Communist dictators.
This is significant, because the Left will always be able to find a “right-wing” dictator if they look far enough. Henry VIII was arguably an example. The real point is that every time a left-wing dictator comes to power, the one and only thing he produces is carcasses by the trainload.
But what’s really important, Ken – do the trains run on time?

Perhaps for Stalin but perhaps not for Mao. Hitler opened the first concentration camp in 1933 shortly after taking power. That camp was one of the last liberated in 1945, so you could say the camp era lasted 12 years. Admittedly, the wholesale murder of an estimated 11 million people didn’t get up to full speed until around 1942 or 43. In all, Hitler averaged almost a million murders for each year he was in power.
Mao gained power in 1949 and held it until his death in 1976 (about 27 years). In that time, he was responsible for well over 50 million deaths as a result of the Great Leap Forward and the Culteral Revolution. That number of deaths (which may be very low compared to the real number) works out to around 2 million a year. It’s possible he was responsible for over 3 million deaths a year on average.
With Jews like George Soros controlling so much money and power it is easy to see why people have such hate.
Not that it is right to blame a whole group for the sins of a few but that is often done.

The British Empire used concentration camps in the Boer War in the XIXth century. The idea was neither new nor untried. The US also incarcerated in camps people of Japanese descent during WWII. But there is a difference between concentration camps and death camps. Hitler’s quickly turned into actual death camps for mass genocide.
Oh and Soros is a bastard. The fact the he is of Jewish decent has little importance. Kenneth Lay was another bastard. AFAIK he wasn’t Jewish. There is no correlation between being Jewish and being an asshole.

One of the many things being in the military made clear to me is that no one racial or ethnic group cornered the market on assholes. Assholes can be found in every racial, ethnic, religious, and national group regardless to sex or sexual orientation.

David: Yeah, that’s the ticket. I thought of this after I posted. “You’re just being a Judeophobe!!!” has an angry (well, okay, leftist) ring to it. You have to roll it around in your mouth, Ann-Coulter-style, augmenting with a twinkle in your eye, to get it to emerge with the suitable tongue-in-cheek quality.
The maddening thing about charges of ‘[ ]phobia’ is that in most cases it’s not a phobia at all, it’s simply a distaste or dislike, often developed over time, with an array of reasons behind the judgment. (I’m not talking about Jews, here… I’ve been a Judeophile from an early age, due to years of being entertained by Jewish comedians of the 1950s and 60s). But the instant psychoanalysis implicit in the ‘phobia’ tag is as childishly irritating as “I know you are, but what am I?” repeated ad nauseum….
