The more than 2,000 weapons that the Obama Justice Department allowed to be delivered to Mexican narco-terrorist cartels are thought to have been used in the shooting of an estimated 150 Mexican law enforcement officers and soldiers battling the cartels. Two American law enforcement officers have also presumably fallen prey to these weapons, along with an unknown number of civilians on both sides of the border.
President Barack Obama’s Department of Justice has purposefully armed narco-terrorist drug cartels that have been accused of bombings, ambushes, mass murders, public executions, and the assassination of police, politicians, and civic leaders.
Obama’s Justice Department armed the enemy of our neighbor and ally, providing enough arms to equip ten infantry companies, or two battalions, of violent drug dealers.
What did the president know, and when did he know it?
In a world in which we didn’t have a corrupt Attorney General, there would be people being charged under the False Statements Act. I don’t know whether or not the Congress can impeach a cabinet officer, but if not, they should demand Holder’s resignation and threaten to impeach the president if he refuses.
[Update a few minutes later]
I should add that what makes this even worse was the apparent purpose of it — to falsely accuse American gun sellers of selling guns to the cartels to allow them to further restrict the right to bear arms of law-abiding Americans.
[Friday morning update]
This should end Holder’s tenure. But it probably won’t.
What’s Ken Starr up to these days?
I don’t know, but I hope he keeps doing it; I don’t want him within ten miles of this. Ken Starr is an incompetent boob, at least when it comes to ferreting out government corruption.
Stuff like this makes me wonder how it is, exactly, that nobody, including Mexico, Israel, and some of our other “allies”, has declared war on the U.S. in the last 30 months. I know I’d want to, if I was some of them…
I would call this the ATF’s version of the Tuskegee Experiment, except that this one causes the violent deaths of law enforcement officers and civilians.
Will be interesting to see where this leads.
“to falsely accuse American gun sellers of selling guns to the cartels to allow them to further restrict the right to bear arms of law-abiding Americans.”
Tin-foil-land says this gives Mexico (or Mexicans) a route to successfully suing the gun manufacturers.
Similar cases run aground here in the US.
It doesn’t actually seem that much more convoluted than the purported thinking. So… judgement withheld.
I seem to recall that it was Ken Starr who provided advance warning to Bill Clinton when the blue dress analysis was completed
Clone Leon Jaworski.
The more than 2,000 weapons… have been used in the shooting of an estimated 150 Mexican law enforcement officers and soldiers
This makes no sense, unless you assume each officer was shot multiple times by (on average) 13.3 weapons.
He also repeats the old liberal canard about Iran-Contra. “Reagan-era officials… illegally funded Nicaragua’s anti-communist rebels.” Although often claimed at the time, that is false. The law prohibited *using money appropriated by Congress* to fund the Nicaraguan resistance. The law was silent with regard to using *money from other sources* — which is the reason why the Iran-Contra connection came about. Had officials been willing to break the law, there would have been no need for them to seek extra-Congressional sources of funding.
‘Gunwalker’ Much Worse Than ‘Iran-Contra’
(beats head on desk)
Couldn’t Owens have used for comparison a scandal that is near-universally regarded as a scandal?
That was kinda the point, Alan. The Iran-Contra “scandal” isn’t universally recognized as one, yet was investigated and reported on quite heavily, with a significant number of convictions. Gunwalker is a MUCH bigger deal, and should be treated as such, yet it is being mostly ignored by the media and certainly not being investigated or prosecuted by the administration.
Iran-Contra was a scandal, just not one for the reasons the bien pensant want us to think. There was nothing wrong with arming the Contras, but it was brain-dead stupid to be dealing with the Iranians the way we were.
Not a scandal????
Selling arms to the mullahs in Iran???
Funding fascist death squads in Nicaragua, who murdered thousands of innocent villagers?
What on earth are you people thinking?
Drinking, Joe. It’s “what on earth are you people drinking.”
And the answer is Kentucky bourbon with a bit of soda water. What about you? Robothink Kool-Ade laced with mescaline? Unicorn piss?
Obama Lied, Mexicans died!
He obviously does not care for brown people!
It’s interesting how slowly the administration is acting on this matter. A federal employee gets caught on video making comments which appear racist and they’re out the door within a couple of days. The head of the ATF let this abomination happen (some claim he was deeply involved to the point of being able to watch gun transactions in real time), and the administration takes its sweet time looking for a replacement.
