Thoughts on big banks.
I use Bank of Jackson Hole. I’ve been with them for years. It’s a small bank, used to dealing with wealthy people, and it’s very user friendly. The only inconvenience is that I have to mail in my deposits.

Your bank doesn’t allow scanning checks?
That’s a good question. I’ve never actually asked them. I should.

More important for me is being to find a free ATM. I make more withdrawals than deposits.
I use Bank of America. The Republic of Texas Bank only has four locations that I know of. Although, I do worry that the Americans might seize my bank account once Texas secedes. 🙂
ATMs is the reason my wife and I finally signed up with BofA, but that was at a time when we were traveling a lot and expecting to continue — i.e., before the empty suit got elected. We’ve also discovered just how much of the country BofA isn’t in — last summer we made a cash withdrawal at the only BofA ATM in western South Dakota, and that had to be a special trip to the local mall.
I was a BofA customer for about 5 years, they never treated me any better than if I were a drug dealer. I switched to a local credit union (becu) and it’s definitely an upgrade. ATMs are a little less prevalent, but then again I can always get cash back at any grocery store so it’s not a huge deal.
Well, I just checked with them. Nope, I can’t scan checks. They need the physical dead tree.
Sorry to hear it. I got my daughters with USAA. They can scan checks to them. Use any ATM and get fees refunded. They are just limited in available branch banks for free notary. Tough life my kids lead.
I’m still with Bank of the Northern Hemisphere because sometimes you just can’t fix stupid or kill old habits.
Navy Federal Credit Union. I’ve always been treated well, no-fee ATMs are in every 7-11, online services are easy. Best banking switch I ever made.
