It’s futile to be fighitng in Afghanistan when our enemies there are merely puppets of the real problem across the border.
Richard Fernandez made the point a while ago that attacking the geography from which the 9/11 attacks were launched is like bombing the empty spot of ocean that the Pearl Harbor planes flew from when their carriers happened to be there. And equally helpful at bringing the war to an end.
Thank God our forefathers understood that the war ended when we stood uncontested in Berlin and Tokyo, not Midway and Normandy.
