Really, they only like science when it gives them the “correct” answers.

It’s amusing to see what this group feels about slightly different examples. For example, Richard Cohen, who is concerned about hearings on “Islamic radicalization” has a different opinion on Nazi radicalization. For example, he flips out over the “U-Boat” watch.
I can’t take seriously someone who brushes off serious attacks that have killed hundreds or thousands (with attempts still going on today), yet gets worked up over a pretty innocuous label.
“[Rep. Peter] King is setting a dangerous precedent. The government has no business examining any peaceful religious group because a handful of adherents have broken the law.”
And yet if they were investigating “Radical Christians”, Leftists would not only lead the charge, but fall all over each other to be first in line for bragging rights at campaigns, media hits, cocktail parties, etc…
True in general, but…
I balk at the very idea of conflating a Congressional hearing with science.
In every case I can recall, the former are theater, not science.
Science is politics these days (if it ever was not.)
The romantic idea of the truth seeking skeptic may just be the fantasy of the few that put truth above all else.
What science is being considered here, according to you? Sounds to me like it is a field of study that you and many of your readers deny actually is a science at all (except in this case, where it suits your politics).
Titus beat me to the punch on “Radical Christians”.
But Titus, the left doesn’t any need hearings on the Christian Right though. They are charged and convicted without the first piece of paper drawn on, the first hearing called or the first ‘expert’ deposed! They need no hearings. Haven’t you people heard? Christians are bad for America. They are dangerous, dangerous people. Jews are nearly as bad. Think of those poor Palestinians.
Have you forgotten? Just weeks ago a Right-Wing, gun waving, nut job, follower of the evil ‘JEW carpenter’, was responsible for shooting a 9 year old girl and some others in Arizona in an effort to force every citizen to become a believer in said ‘JEW carpenter’!! He killed a number of people trying to force all that right-wing stuff down on them.
Yeah, and monkey’s might fly outta my….
This stuff wouldn’t get under my skin nearly as far if the leftist hand-wringers didn’t consistently say things about goings on, that describe their own actions to a “T”. If they aren’t just plain old hypocritical that is. They pillary and denigrate anyone who is a Christian or a Jew and then fall all over themselves over Islam and Islamic ideals, they support celebrators of Kwanza, and the just love that cult who worships a VW Hub Cap in Encino as the Holy Hub Cap of Antioch. The left loves any group of weirdness calling ITSELF a religion, so long as it ain’t Christian ir Jewish in nature. And all because “they”, the non-Judeo-Christians should have religious freedom, it says so in the Living and Breathing Constitution remember.
And what about those who worship at the altar of Global Warming?
Hey Bob, anthropology for 200, please.
Physical anthropology is awe-inducing and is certainly science, but social anthropology? People on this blog have frequently denied social anthropology and its nearly identical sibling, sociology, are even worthy of study, let alone that they qualify as science. But look, I’m in favor of both science and social studies, so spell it out for me: how are the hearings going to study or teach anything? Bonus points if what they study or teach is actually scientific!

No, of course it doesn’t — we’re watching the last vestiges of KGB anti-West agitprop run its course. It will get more absurd and desperate as those memes hijack fewer and fewer hosts before being wiped-out during WW3 or CW2 (whichever comes first.)
