A couple years ago, I saw a comment by a lefty begging (without any sense of irony, mind you) for a new “Manhattan Project” to solve the energy crisis.
No, I’m not kidding.
A good deal of work has been done by the Space Studies Institute (http://ssi.org/, founded by Dr. Gerard O’Neil who wrote the book “The High Frontier” in 1977) on using lunar resources for producing Satellite Solar Power Stations, which could microwave power to Earth.
Sounds to me like someone ran out of exploitable crises. Rather than come up with a coherent plan here (such as streamlining the many obstacles to businesses both in creation and R&D activity), we’re subject to the usual wistful fantasy. They hope that some day there will be an emergency or other urgency, granting them vindication.
All I can say is that Obama looks like a fool in a suit, coming up with tripe like this.
Dragon splashed down on target, so the post can go back up!
