Steny Hoyer says that the House will stay in session next week, and that it will take up the NASA authorization bill. The question is, will it be the atrocity that came out of committee, or a compromise with, or copy of the Senate bill? If it’s the former, it will remain DOA in conference, and there will be no bill. Which may be the best outcome. Keep those phone calls coming.

It’s worth looking at the Post story on the same press briefing, at http://voices.washingtonpost.com/44/2010/09/house-to-work-at-least-another.html. That one lists a NASA Authorization as one of the bills the House “could tackle before adjournment.” The wording in that ABCNews TheNote blog item is ambiguous; it says a “NASA Reauthorization” is on Hoyer’s “to-do list.” I don’t think Hoyer promised a NASA Authorization vote this morning, just listed it as a good thing to get done if they can.
As to whether such a vote would be on the Senate version or some peculiar compromise, both (or no vote at all) are still possibilities. Stay tuned.
