“Overseas contingency opperations concerning man caused disasters attributed to victims of political, economic and social pressures.” Are we really supposed to speak this way? This obscures the impact of the events and precludes any moral judgement. It simply proclaims “s**t happens – who are we to judge”. Except we aren’t supposed to take this attitude when the action is attributed to those on the approved enemies list.
Perhaps the Obami would be more suited to anthropology than politics.
As Jonah Goldberg once said (I’m paraphrasing), Obama tends to project a “People of Earth, stop your bickering, I am here to help you.” kind of meme. It’s a very above it all, govern from geosynchronous orbit kind of thing. That’s why when he goes all “tell me who’s ass to kick” it falls flat. People like Bill Maher, who want him to be Shaft (as played by Samuel Jackson), have no idea what they are asking. It’s a false note that would not convince anyone.

Truth is generally simple. They aren’t speaking truth.

I don’t remember who said it, but someone described him as being like a foreign anthropologist studying American culture.
Why, given Obama’s history, would anyone expect him to be anything other than a disinterested bystander in matters concerning our values and culture?
Global governance is his objective, and if a disastrous oil spill is the catalyst for the further weakening of our capitalist system to even the playing field, so much the better.
I’m infuriated by his administration’s refusal to accept immediate assistance from the Netherlands by way of ships equipped with oil-skimming booms and a plan for building sand barriers to protect southern marshlands. The Dutch have centuries of expertise in protecting their land from threats posed by the sea, but, no, Obama and his cabal are smarter.
Hours after disasters strike in other parts of the world, Americans are on their way to help. God forbid that another nation be allowed to render material assistance when Americans are the people who need it.

The motto of this administration has and continues to be, “Never let a crisis go to waste.”
This fiasco has surpassed Katrina-land (the original consisted of 3-days with GWB waited for the locals to, you know, say something coupled with an ironic soundbyte “doing a heckuvajob!”) and entered enter SNL territory. I’m thinking of the old school one with Aykroyd playing Julia Child who accidentally cuts herself and blood keeps gushing everywhere…
