Typical. Lacking evidence they assume a die off… then find evidence and must change the tune. It’s the explosion of life during that period that is more interesting.
Anything geographically or climatologically unique about Morocco and the Burgess Shale of that time that could account for a disproportionate share of either a) the world’s life forms, or b) the conditions necessary for fossilization?
