Thoughts on the impending collapse of the European Union.

So trying to bring together 27 different countries with 23 different languages and a thousand year history of trying to kill each other doesn’t work? Who knew?
I told them they needed to adopt “Kum-Ba-Yah” as their national anthem.
VDH is too sanguine about our fate, I fear.
We benighted Unitedstatians should try to emulate Europe as fast as possible because they are so enlightened, especially Greece.
Not sure how our European cousins got a reputation for being enlightened. From what I can tell, the past 50 or so years of peace they have enjoyed was bought at the price of stationing those arrogant Americans on European soil so that our European betters wouldn’t start killing each other again (two world wars being enough for now thanks). Maybe I’m missing something, but I think they are just a little over rated in the enlightened department.
Chris L – it’s an interesting exercise to look at army sizes around the EU compared to the size of the nations. Not necessarily in terms of force projection but in terms of defense.
The impressive thing about the article is how many technical errors there are in there, and I loved the 1939 reference. But that’s hardly new for the NRO.
But if it makes you feel better reading OpEd puff pieces that make your ego feel warm and fluffy. More power to you.

Yeah, I prefer to get my schadenfreude from the hard news. Every time they torch a banker, I ring a little bell…
