And the vile demagoguery of the Democrats in the wake of it, from Glenn Reynolds:
Lies and smears aimed at their fellow Americans, for short-term political gain. This is who they are, and this is what they do. It worked better, however, when there were fewer alternative channels of communication, and when their character was less well-known.
And as he notes, they’re busy going after imaginary “right wing” “terrorists,” while pretending that the real ones, who really do want to destroy our civilization, don’t exist. And they are being ignored to the point that we can’t even describe their motivations. In fact, they were doing it then — the White House and Janet Reno’s justice department shut down any investigation that might have led to the revelation of offshore help for McVeigh. Once they had their white “right-wing” “Christian” (he was an agnostic) terrorist, no need to confuse the American people with John Doe Number Two. Besides, if (say) Iraq had been shown to be involved, they might have had to do something about it.
When it comes to thuggish violence at Tea Part Events, all you need to remember is: “Look for the Union Label.”
As for John Doe Number Two, isn’t it fascinating how the same people who believe Oliver Stone’s films are documentaries aren’t the least bit interested in what could be a real conspiracy?
Bush had 8 years to prove any connection between Iraq and McVeigh.
Well, Jack is back, with his Bush derangement.
Jack is missing an opportunity here. He could instead be arguing that “Bush did it too!” but the other way around — turning a deadly attack against an office building by domestic terrorists [cue Twilight Zone theme] into an excuse to take on his own preferred enemies for domestic political gain through fearmongering and guilt-by-association.
I don’t know that jack buys in to Trooferism, but if one does adhere to that particular strain of weirdness, there’s an interesting symmetry there.
I didn’t care much for Bush and his “compassionate (i.e., statist) conservatism, and I’ll never forgiving him for paving the way for The Rise of Il Dufe; but one reason I am grateful that he was elected president is the specter of Gore being president–and Janet Reno (the Clinton’s “Rosa Klebb”)remaning as Attorney General–when the planes hit the Twin Towers. Can you imagine Jackboots Janet with war powers? You’d have had a Waco and a Ruby Ridge in every state in the Union.
Clinton is a sociopath and a slimebag. A truly vile piece of offal. A huckster and a charlatan.
But for a small quirk of fate, he would have ended up in another career that led more directly to the federal pen.
On a personal level, I have far more respect for Obama.
“On a personal level, I have far more respect for Obama.”
I don’t. A successful parasite doesn’t kill its host.
I don’t. A successful parasite doesn’t kill its host.
Unless it has ready hosts to hop to after the current one dies. Obama isn’t going to become president of some other country, but a number of his supporters can move their activities to other countries. I suppose eventually, they’ll run out of countries though.
