I’d like to see a Republican Congress because it will divide the government. Unfortunately, I don’t believe that the GOP has rededicated itself to providing limited, competent government. On the contrary.
Now if only we had someone to vote for besides Republicans …
Let’s party like it’s 1894!
Now if only we had an election setup where 3rd parties could get support without being spoilers…
At this point, I doubt that I will vote Republican unless my local congressional race has a candidate committed to lowering taxes, shrinking government, etc. I think that Clyde Wilson over at Chronicles has it right regarding the Repubs:

As commenter gs above says, I see no sign that the Repubs have reformed. Indeed, with Steele still running things, I think that if anything, voting Repub is just the same as voting Demo.
The one thing that I will do if and when I get back to work is to donate to genuinely conservative candidates, such as Rand Paul, assuming that he wins his primary.
The Democrats were bad. Republicans won control of Congress and eventually proved they could be just as bad. Democrats regained control of Congress and decided to double down, proving they could be even worse. Now, do we leave the Democrats in control or do we give the Republicans another chance. Obama is in office until Jan 20, 2013 (or God forbid, 2017) so having Republicans in control of Congress will result in divided government once again. We seem to do better in regards to spending with a divide government. The Democrats have proved completely incapable and irresponsible to run the whole thing.
I agree with Larry J — leaving Pelosi and Reid in place is not an option.
When Nate Silver starts predicting a 90 seat shift I’ll take notice. He’s still plotting 56 as about the worst case plausible scenario. Which is bad, but there’s a lot of time between now an November and room for a lot of good and bad news in there.
Looks like at the least it’ll be a Republican Congress. The Senate maths look less clear at this point because there’s a lot in play.
Meanwhile I look forward to Sarah Palin emerging as a 3rd party candidate for 2012. That should settle things nicely for the Republican party until the 2016 election.

You have a very rich fantasy life.
“You have a very rich fantasy life.”
Yeah, that’s my take on the situation too. Not even the people who applaud her at Tea Party rallies think she is presidential material. It’s not that they love her, it’s that they really don’t like the people who attack her. Since her critics tend to use very class based attacks on her, her supporters see those as attacks on them also.

That’s not what I meant. If she runs, it will be as a Republican.
Rand,
I don’t think she will run in any case. I think she has seen enough of the vipers who inhabit the political system, to want to just watch from the sidelines. I don’t think she is trying to create a power base. I think she just wants to stay involved.
You have a very rich fantasy life.
You have no idea.
If she runs, it will be as a Republican.
Which is another scenario that I would find pretty amusing. Frankly, the probability of her making it intact through a primary round is pretty damn low.
She’d be hugely popular with a noisy and sizable minority but as the Republican candidate? It would take the complete collapse of the US economy, Obama caught in bed with Bin Laden, a goat and a young boy and even then I think she’d be struggling.
And you accuse me of a rich fantasy life? Get that image out of your head this afternoon – I dare ya!

And you accuse me of a rich fantasy life?
Ummm…yes.
That is your fantasy, not mine.
And I see that your logic is down to its usual standards.
Daveon,
You might want to tone down the haha’s here. A recent pol put the One within 1 point of Ron Paul. Not exactly invincible.
You have a very rich fantasy life.
You have no idea.
Nor do we want you to give us any.
“…Obama caught in bed with Bin Laden, a goat and a young boy and even then I think she’d be struggling.”
I don’t buy the young boy for a minute.
Now he’s pushing Wall Street “reform” as the pushback issue. The same guys who poured 10s of millions into Obama’s election among other Dems. Now they’re the enemy…until 2012.

One can only hope!
