Congress apparently didn’t bother to read the bill before voting on it and passing it. I guess it’s just too much trouble.
Do they have any concept of what incompetent boobs they appear to be to we normal people?

I see an opportunity here. Bribe someone (which shouldn’t be too difficult) to slip specially “amended” pages into a massive bill, containing language that would exempt all Republicans and Independents from all federal taxes of any form whatsoever. Add in a Reid special, prohibiting the language from being reviewed or repealed. Put it in the middle of a section the Democrat party doesn’t want anyone to know exists, just for safe keeping. If any Republicans or Independents happen to stumble on it, I’m sure they wouldn’t be in a big hurry to point it out…
I could never really figure out this “it’s too big to read” thing. It seems to me that reading the bill is kinda their job. They are supposed to read the bill because (or so the theory goes) the people they represent don’t have the time or inclination to understand the bill as completely as someone who’s job to read it is. If they aren’t going to do the most basic part of their job, there is no reason for them to be there. We could pay a group of homeless people 200K a year NOT to read the bill.
I don’t consider politicians to be incompetent at all – not, that is, unless they actually do a job (in the case of the UK for example the Chancellor). They are very competent indeed – at sticking their noses in the trough, which is the only reason most of them are there.
