People still don’t like ObamaCare. We’re going to follow your sage advice from yesterday, Mr. President, and “bring it ongo for it.”
And it turns out Nancy Pelosi was right — we had to pass the bill to learn what was in it:
Now that the bill has been safely passed and signed into law, the mainstream press is gradually revealing the scores of delightful provisions tucked away in the 2,700 page abomination: job-killing taxes on businesses, innovation-killing taxes on medical products, suffocating regulations on individual freedoms, wealth-sapping taxes on the middle-class, unprecedented intrusions on personal privacy, unconstitutional mandates on individuals, racially discriminatory preferences for favored groups, a Ponzi-scheme-on-steroids financing mechanism, and spending on a galactic, incomprehensible scale.
Not to mention this:
The health care overhaul will cost U.S. companies billions and make them more likely to drop prescription drug coverage for retirees because of a change in how the government subsidizes those benefits.
In the first two days after the law was signed, three major companies — Deere & Co., Caterpillar Inc. and Valero Energy — said they expect to take a total hit of $265 million to account for smaller tax deductions in the future.
With more than 3,500 companies now getting the tax break as an incentive to keep providing coverage, others are almost certain to announce similar cost increases in the weeks ahead as they sort out the impact of the change.
Figuring out what it will mean for retirees will take longer, but analysts said as many as 2 million could lose the prescription drug coverage provided by their former employers, leaving them to enroll in Medicare’s program.
But “if you like your plan, you’ll be able to keep it.” Right? And just think of all the job creation this will mean. For IRS agents.
“Bring it onGo for it,” indeed. For the Democrats, that bill may be the longest suicide note in history.
[Update mid morning]
(Dr.) Paul Hsieh, on the real ObamaCare fraud.
“Bring it on.” Yeah, I think he’ll be eating those words in November. I think the election is going to be a “big fucking deal.”
Amateur hour.
Hence the reason they need to get all their wet dreams passed before next January. History is on their side, once these things get implemented they are never overturned.
Assuming we get a republican congress in November, the way to repeal ObamaCare is to attached a clause repealing ObamaCare in every single appropriations bill next year. As long as Obama continues to veto them, the federal agencies will not get any money at all. Of course, this requires that the congressional republicans have more balls than Gingrich did at the end of 1995 when he “chickened out” first in this game with Clinton. It is up to the tea party movement to support the election of fiscally conservative candidates who will have the balls to step up to the plate to make sure that ObamaCare gets repealed.
I heard on local radio this morning that military retirees, who have their med / health benefits as part of their retirement, are NOT considered to have “adequate” coverage under this idiot plan. They will most likely have to pay the fines, or move to the government section of the plan.
And service members who need medical appliances, including prosthetic arms, legs, eyes, etc. even from combat causes, will have to pay the 10% tax. They’ll be taxed just like someone who wants bigger boobs, a fake 6 pack or who want their lips pumped up. Well, that seems fair, doesn’t it?
This, ladies and germs, is how military coups begin.
I’ve talked to a number of other vets concerning the current administration, mostly about the stuff Congress and the WH are doing that seems anti-Constitutional . We’re pretty sure, this IS the domestic threat we took an oath to fight against. I’d be extremely surprised if the active duty folks aren’t wondering about this now too.
In point of fact, Glenn Beck talked, several years ago, about a report saying Junior Officers in our military were wondering IF they should follow orders to “subdue or intern” Americans in times of “declared emergencies”. Senior Officers have likely discussed this type thing too, I’m betting.
I repeat, this is how military coups begin.
We don’t have the kind of military now that they had during Reconstruction. It was easy to get Union Soldiers, from north of the Mason – Dixon line, to ride herd over southerners. It’ll be much harder to get guys from everywhere, to ride heard over their own families, friends, etc, everywhere.
I say again, this is how military coups begin.
Der Schtumpy, while I don’t like Obamacare any more than the rest of you guys, your info on Tricare is wrong.
See http://tinyurl.com/ydnjxcn for the Military Officer’s Association of America’s take on how Obamacare impacts Tricare.
And here for the DoD report on it: http://tinyurl.com/yztye9j
The bottom line is that both active duty Tricare and retiree Tricare For Life is “qualifying coverage.”
As for the domestic threat part – I don’t think we’re near there yet. But I do think we are closer than when I was first commissioned two decades ago. If I didn’t think I was in compliance with my oath, I wouldn’t still be wearing the uniform.
Now back to lurking….. you guys have some fascinating discussions.
I heard on local radio this morning that military retirees, who have their med / health benefits as part of their retirement, are NOT considered to have “adequate” coverage under this idiot plan.
And you believe everything you hear on the radio?
