Jaw Dropping

I heard the interview with Wesley Clark on Face The Nation yesterday, and was awestruck by how stupid the former General came off as in his pathetic attempt to defend Barack Obama on foreign policy. So was Ed Morrissey. And I have to say, good for Bob Schieffer in calling him on his inane comments.

[Update at noon]

Here’s more on Clark and his slander of McCain. I liked this excerpt:

“Interviews with a wide variety of current and retired military officials reveal that Clark was disliked by only three groups: Those whom ranked above him in the chain of command whom he ignored, his peers at the same rank whom he lied to, and those serving beneath him whom he micromanaged. Other than that, everyone liked him.”

Also note that he’s not the only Democrat denigrating McCain’s war record.

[Update a couple minutes later]

Vets For Freedom have a response for General Clark.

[Early afternoon update]

You stay classy, Democrats.”

[Another update a couple minutes later]

That’s not the Wesley Clark I knew.

Man, it’s got to be getting crowded under that bus.

  1. Just goes to show what a petty, venal, WEASELY ‘man’ Clark is…..

And Clarks resume is repleat with ‘ticket punching’, and despite his command of a division during desert storm a near total lack of anything approaching heroism, or more than even base competence in his duties.

He’s a sure bet for Obama – after all, he was the Clinton’s personal ‘military man’…as real as the sailor in the village people.

  2. Sounds like a really weak attack that can only hurt Obama. You don’t win an election by saying that your opponent’s life experiences don’t qualify them to be president when you have even less experience. As I see it, Obama is in part running on the implicit theme that he’s far less likely to further G. W. Bush’s policies than McCain is. It doesn’t serve his purpose to remind voters that there are other reasons to vote than how closely someone resembles Bush.

  3. “He was a hero to me and to hundreds of thousands of millions of others…”

    Fibbernacci numbers?

  4. It sounds like Clark was subconciously making an argument not for Obama’s superior qualifications but for his own. Typical.

  5. “hundreds of thousands of millions “

Nope 100 * 1.000 * 1.000.000 = 100 US billions which isn’t a Fibonacci number. It would be slightly Fibonacci sequence-like if one did a sequence of 100, 1.000, 100.000, 100.000.000 (100 millions), 10.000.000.000.000 (10.000 US billions) but of course none of those numbers are 100 US billions so no not even that really.

On topic Clark is what happens when one kicks shit upwards.

  6. Two formerly high ranking military officers that are part of the Obama campaign are Clark and McPeak. Both are widely despised asshats. That alone tells me something.

The real hoot of the interview is how Clark talks about McCain lacking executive experience except for his time as a squadron commander. Obama has absolutely no executive experience at all. You’d think that was an important job qualifier for someone wanting to be the Chief Executive. Admittedly, McCain’s executive experience is thin but Obama’s is non-existent. He’ll have to resort to on-the-job training if we’re unfortunate enough to elect him.
