Ten bad takeaways from the Zelenskyy blow-up
— Victor Davis Hanson (@VDHanson) March 1, 2025
1. Zelenskyy does not grasp—or deliberately ignores—the bitter truth: those with whom he feels most affinity (Western globalists, the American Left, the Europeans) have little power in 2025 to help him. And those with whom he…

President Trump told lil-Z he wasn’t holding any cards.
lil-Z said he wasn’t there to play cards.
ProTip: When you sit down at the table and don’t know who the mark is, it’s YOU.
Pro-Ukraine shills are saying that Z’s English is poor and he probably misunderstood that to mean something like “you’re not dealt in to this hand.”
I dunno. I think it’s time to let Europe pick up the slack and spend some money–and maybe send their sons and daughters there to fight, if they think it’s so important.
Fear needs to be at the table.
Serious, unrelenting Fear.
Fear, as in Fear.
Real Fear..
Take your own ass out, kinda Fear.
No more talking.
I’m just some schmuck expressing an energized opinion.
Don’t come knocking on my door.
Is Fear inside?
I reworded that, for legal argument sake.’
Fear is everywhere, don’t you know?
RE: Zelenskyy [sic]
Truth or theater?
Manipulation on high?
Truth or theatre? Its obvious, Trump said this is going to make for great TV. He should know. Zelensky is an actor playing a part.
They say a picture is worth a thousand words…
The Trump Effect is idiot leftists helping Trump without realizing it just by being themselves.
I think Trump is doing good cop bad cop and Zelenskyy acting like a maniac helps get Putin to the table and willing to make concessions.
Make a deal Vlad or we let the little weasel loose.
Interesting theory.
My theory is that a lot of people, Mr. Zelenskyy included, don’t “get” Mr. Trump.
Donald Trump is excoriated for being rude and crude, but he can be quite genial and approachable. What he doesn’t like is being disrespected. If you do that, he will disrespect you back in proportional measure.
Oh fore sure, you are right on that.
I don’t think this event was scripted, my filter is for the larger picture. Just letting them be themselves helps Trump. Their nature is reactionary, obstinate, and opposed to anything Trump related.
Trump is playing with his cards face up. He said he wants the war to end. One big problem with this, Putin think he can wait it out. USA always gets bored and leaves. Two answers for it. 1) Mineral deal shows long term economic commitment rather than just a fickle military one. 2) Ukraine and Europe display irrational behavior that will keep the war going until everyone is ground down to a bloody stump.
While the Ukrainiac propaganda about Russia always about to collapse is junk, Russia is paying a high price. It isn’t in their best interest for the war to continue and imo, they think they can wait out the west and 1/2 above show they cant and puts Trump in a good position to get the most out of the negotiations.
People can’t see Trump as the elder statesman, but that is what he is here protecting Russia from the retarded idiots in Europe and the Europeans from the suicidal Russian meatwaves.
Zelensky calls the White House Ukrainian Fund number. Beep, beep, beeep! “I’m sorry, the number you’ve dialed is no longer in service. If you believe you’ve reached this number in error, please call 1-800-YOU-FAFO.” Click.
Ukraine hasn’t enough combat power left (and probably never did) to push Russia out. Russia doesn’t have the combat power to either advance significantly further into Ukraine or even eject them from their incursion into Kursk. Stalemate.
“Unconditional surrender” cost us millions of troops in Europe with hundreds of thousand dead. Putin’s head isn’t going on a pike as much as anyone, including me, might wish. Nor is Trump gullible enough to buy any low ball estimates that it would take just a little push to dislodge Putin. That leaves two alternatives: the meat grinder continues with the possibility that it devolves into something catastrophic or you find some middle ground that satisfies no one completely but stops the bleeding.
I doubt Trump’s personal opinion of Putin is any better than mine, but he knows that indulging in pointless name calling isn’t the way forward.
Pretty much.
Yup
If the game ends in a negotiated settlement, then there is little reason to keep burning moves and bodies for years only to end up in the same place we are now.
I should lay off the beer.
What I’m now thinking is that Putin is a wuss who couldn’t put this little twit underground in the first 5 minutes.
