  1. “The old GOP has been the controlled opposition for decades. Not that they were literally taking orders, of course. The old GOP simply figured out that they can make more money by losing. ”

Aside from the corruption at the top, the Republicans were a middle class party. Many people of the middle class over the last hundred years started quite lower. To a middle class person, appearing respectable is very important. Good people who believe in behaving like good people. This was taken advantage of by both GOP leaders and the leftists.

This “new” incarnation of the GOP is doing what the base has been wanting the party to do for a long time and they have the support of the disaffected Democrats. How long will this coalition last? It depends on how tight Democrats hold onto their death cult and whether or not the GOP can inculcate their ideology in their new voters.

Instapundit recommended welcome baskets for people fleeing blue states and that is still a good idea.

  2. Someone is eventually going to tell people like Nauditt that Trump and Musk are yanking their chains with these things, and cause them to moderate their ridiculous responses to the ridicule.

I hope it’s not any time soon.

Though both have ridiculous aspects to their own personalities, Trump and Musk have the advantage of knowing it, admitting it, and (for the most part) gleefully rolling with it when anyone tries to ridicule them. The targets of their mockery have none of that.
