  1. Sabine’s little rant might be appropriate here. Time for DOGE to go through the Universities and research institutes.

    1. As most of the money supporting universities and research institutes comes from the federal government, DOGE will certainly be getting to them all in due course.

  2. “‘Not using such US-centric and colonisation/genocide-invoking historical metaphors would be a better start,’ British scholar says”

Says man whose country can’t go to space.

Jokes aside, it doesn’t matter what terms are used because the totalitarian leftists are antagonistic to humans existing on and off Earth.

  3. Tesla Bot:

    1. I could use one now to help me work on Country Estate. My dream of a skin-job with female plumbing adaptation is fading fast. Next, I have to go under the house and replace all the plumbing. Assuming I still have my WG10 skills, I probably need a WG8 sidekick.

  4. “the U.S. a more difficult partner to work with on the international dimension in terms of human spaceflight where the whims of Presidents and advisors can derail years of planning and financial-industrial commitments.”

Two words: “Private Sector”. Or is that illegal now in the UK and EU?

    1. Space Exploitation could be said to be bigger than Space Exploration.
The satellite market is big, ie starlink at moment is “small” in comparison but probably will be quite big in the near future.
The famous Apollo program was mainly, a war effort, and in terms of war, quite impressive, compared to any other war effort.
Or in terms exploration of Moon, it didn’t do much exploration, but small amount done, changed our world.
And all of our Mars exploration, hasn’t done much.
The Cold war PR stunt of Apollo, transformed our understanding of Earth history in many ways, and transformed our modern technology- but US political leadership wasn’t very interested in Lunar exploration- if they were, they would not have ended the Saturn V rocket.
If we did more lunar exploration, we “should” find out more about Earth’s history and other things.
Now, perhaps NASA doesn’t have explore the Moon very much, and perhaps NASA would get more bang for it’s effort, if it would do “some” Mars exploration. But a significant aspect related to Mars exploration is “living in space” and NASA failure to date, of not exploring “artificial gravity” tends to indicate one aspect of NASA current and continuing failure to explore Mars.

  5. It’s now too late to embark on my theoretical ISS rehab project, so it might as well go in the drink as soon as the modified Cargo Dragon is ready. I’d vote for a permanently staffed Mars base for starters. and maybe return to what I suggested in 2016: Amazon Moon and SpaceX Mars. New Glenn could put Orion through TLI and then LOR with Blue Moon lander.

Btw, Musk’s motives are not mysterious. Those 5 Crew Dragons will be need for the Haven project.
