Donald Trump

The libertarian president?

He sure seems like the closest thing to it we could imagine.

Trump has finally taught Republicans how to fight.

[Late-morning update]

I wish he’d tells us what he really thinks.

    1. I haven’t done a careful study but it seems to me that the women who fight are more numerous than the men. Welcome ladies.

  1. Democrats have put on a masterclass in line stepping and overreach. Everything from the rise of Trump to Musk buying Twitter and the resurrection of Trump is due to their abandoning of incrementalism and inability to exercise self control. Trump would have been gone had they simply let him keep the election he won in 2020 but he has had four years to plan out what to do if given another shot and he was joined by many other victims of Democrat’s line stepping.

Libertarianism is a utopian idea, like communism, and we have seen where that has taken them. Conservatism is an inherently reformed based ideology grounded in the classical liberal world view of our founders. I see Trump moving more toward being a Conservative than Libertarian.

Since being libertarian is mostly about buying into the stereotypes Democrats have been inculcating in society and not wanting to be icky, uncool, or like “them” the big shift here is how many libertarians have moved toward the center, toward conservatism. Trump made it cool and this has allowed libertarians to think, maybe I can be cool but not be icky by associating with normal people.

Trump(45) would probably have been gone in 2020 if the Dems had just helped him and his ego “grow in office” while quietly sabotaging him. Instead of admitting St.Hillary! was a terrible candidate, who deserved to lose to the clown opponent she installed, they fought him publicly and loudly proclaimed their “#Resistance!” to him.

Sometime early this century the Libertarians were taken over by the Sex-Drug-Rock’n’Roll types, installed by the Democrats the way those parasites take over everything that gets in their way. Trump(47) is actually attempting to implement things the 20th Century Libertarians and Conservatives mostly talked about doing, and it’s kinda refreshing.

      1. That could be.

It is very nice to have a President who is doing what he campaigned on.

Someone asked Instapundit why he seemed so different and he responded with something like, “If I seem different it is because I am different and that is because conditions are different.”

  2. “Trump has finally taught Republicans how to fight.”

    Addendum:

Let’s just see Fani Willis, James, Bragg etc. ignore/blow-off/give back of the hand etc. to subpoenas from the DOJ as opposed to the more toothless ones coming from a Congressional Committee. She is going to light a fire under them…tell me they’re not quaking in their boots.

  3. For foreign policy, I think that he is Randian. Every country’s leader should look out for their own country’s interests. Then, negotiate for each to get the best deal they can.

The whole Gaza ownership thing might actually be that Gaza is rebuilt by investors with investors having an “ownership position” in the buildings that they built. As Gaza becomes a tourist destination, the investors get repaid. The “people” in the region get jobs working in the tourist industry, and the investing countries have a strong interest in making sure that Hamas doesn’t return, force Israel to blow up the new buildings, and the investors lose their investment.

    1. Sounds lovely. Except for the bit about attempting to convert a population of kill-crazy psychopaths into smiling, deferential customer service staff. As the old saying about teaching pigs to sing goes, it can’t be done and will only annoy the pigs.

The “Palestinians” are, regrettably, the most Arab of Arabs – even their “Arab brothers” want nothing to do with them. Taking over Gaza would be a good idea – for Israel. Ditto the parts of the so-called West Bank it doesn’t already occupy. The “Palestinians” need to be forcibly removed and dumped elsewhere. I recommend Syria. The neo-ISIS crew running that charming place these days can – and happily will – enslave the useful and kill the rest.

A year after their forcible “reunion” with their “Arab brothers” any mention of “Palestinians” to a Syrian would provoke a response along the lines of, “Palestinians, you say? I don’t think so. Hey, Abdul, have we got any – what did you call them – Palestinians around here? No? I didn’t think so. Sorry, no gots. Have you checked with the Turks?”

      1. On the other hand, “maybe the horse will sing”.

As long as the people of the Middle East who paid for the tunnels are the ones paying for the singing lessons.

And I too get the feeling that the neo-ISIS types would not tolerate the Hamas antics, despite being part of the ummah.

  4. trump was ranting about the incredibly bad and stupid Canadian deal and who wrote it…. that is hilarious because it HIS deal he wrote in 2018 …the moron cant remember that far.

      1. He read it someplace but he is certainly smart enough to come up with an original criticism of his own.
