  1. The most puzzling affinity I have ever seen, talk about an odd couple.

Apparently, Ireland had some underdog syndrome gone too far.

  2. I’ve never been to Ireland, despite my deep roots there. According to friends of mine, it’s a beautiful country. In fact, a friend and former colleague of mine got married there, and was so enchanted by it that he wanted to permanently relocate there. He’s also black, so I kinda wonder about the racism there. But the anti-semitism in that part of the world isn’t anything new. Despite having twice had a Jewish-born Prime Minister (Benjamin Disraeli), Great Britain’s royal class was very sympathetic to Hitler and just fine with the Holocaust – Winston Churchill was an outlier, and not a well-liked one by the royals or much of the rest of the ruling class. I’m not surprised at anti-semitism’s diffusing to the rest of that region.

For my own part, I’m doubly cursed. I am of not only Irish but also German heritage. Though not anti-semitic, I do suffer from the curse of my people. Every payday, I get really, really drunk, then invade France.
