Was reading some of his stuff and he was in search of purpose and belonging. That was how he ended up making tiny houses, becoming a Ukrainiac, and joining the effort to prevent Trump from regaining his rightful place.
In other times he would have joined a commune, a different type of cult, or been one of twenty people who killed themselves because they thought the world was ending due to climate change or space aliens.

Who would have thought I would reach the point where I thought climate change was (largely) bovine excrement but space aliens are very likely real? But not necessarily overtly hostile.
