  1. It would be interesting if SpaceX announced they were building (setting aside) an extra Crew Dragon and Falcon 9 that could be prepared in a week’s time to launch as a rescue vessel for any spacecraft/crew in distress that needed another ride home. I bet they could do it, and it would usher in a new era of spaceflight safety. They could later offer it to Space Force to manage and operate it when required, which would give them a unique capability and save SpaceX the cost of maintaining a ready backup.

    1. I seem to recall that SpaceX and other providers have fast-turnaround contract goals with government agencies, and those contracts are written to have a 24-48 hour notice to launch as a condition of proving the capability. Successful launch on the short-notice “test” then allows that launch company to be selected as an emergency provider.

Or was that only for NRO?

    2. Having “generic” pressure suits available would also be good, at least something to help evacuate those whose suits aren’t “plug-compatible”. At least have some kind of adaptor for existing competitors’ suits, to enable oxygen and/or cooling during re-entry.

  2. Some more gleaned from Isaacman from a post to X today:

    – We sincerely apologize to those who have traveled to see our launch and have faced delays. Many of our guests were able to witness 1062’s final Starlink mission. While it’s unfortunate she didn’t stick the last landing, the cause is well understood, and she successfully completed her mission. 1062 had an incredible career, flying many notable missions, including Inspiration4 and AX-1. It’s remarkable to think about the life this amazing rocket led from the day she first rolled off the assembly line.

    Let’s hope so…
