Another way to look at it is that the European left and the American left are part of the same party working together to achieve common goals. It isn’t one copying the other but both working in concert.
Behind it is an admiration of China, Xi, and Mao jealousy of South America and a reverence of all the Marxist evangelists post Marx.
And while Putin has fallen out of favor, the global left are still in alliance with Russia in other parts of the world.
