Some interesting results on strength training. I’m more concerned with strength (and flexibility) than how big my muscles look. Though maybe if I were in the market for women I’d think differently.

The two kinda go hand in hand. As a chronologically challenged person, you have more things to consider. Dr Mike has some good advice

For an actual training program, the best progress is made when you keep showing up and doing the work (it does help to be doing the correct things, but that’s another story).
So doing things that make it likely you’re not going to be able to make the next session are not optimal.
Training to failure makes it much more likely that you won’t be able to show up.
This gets more likely as you get older, and your ability to recover goes down.
True, but you aren’t actually supposed to go to failure. The article notes that whatever path you choose, you go close to failure.
Starting out, everything hurts, even simple things. It takes a month or so to work up to a real work out.
