Why are we only hearing of this three years later rather than a few days after the protests by Trump himself? Why wasn’t Acting Secretary of Defense Christopher Miller fired for his alleged incompetence at the time? Trump had 14 days to do it. Why didn’t Trump override Miller and deploy the National Guard himself?
And why was Miller the only one with this authority to deploy the Guard in the first place?
My take is that this is more of that vaporous authoritarian evidence we’ve seen in defense of Trump. Here’s another example:
