It was a great way to end an era. There will likely never again be a Michigan-Ohio State game with as much on the line as this one, and it may be that it will no longer be the last game in the regular season, with the new additions to the conference. It looks like this could be a legendary year for the Wolverines. But they have to beat Iowa next week, and then see how the seeds turn out for the playoffs.

On the road today so I couldn’t catch the game. Used to be the Big 10 Champion would get crushed in the Rose Bowl.
Well, it won’t be very exciting to go to the Rose Bowl to play the winner of the Pac-2.
“Used to be the Big 10 Champion would get crushed in the Rose Bowl.”
Yep. Too many years of Woody Hayes and Bo Schembechler trading off getting walloped by mediocre California teams.
“Three yards and a cloud of dust is fourth and one.” But you gotta admit ol’ Woody ended his career in a unique way.
Talking about punching down….
Congrats to Michigan for beating Ohio State. Of course, in this part of the country, “The Game” was the Iron Bowl. Bama pulled out a miracle on a 4th and 31 with 32 seconds to play. Those Auburn tears were especially sweet this year. Roll Tide.
The Bulldogs will be a bit more of a challenge than Auburn, I’m afraid. I just hope that the Wolverines don’t underestimate the Hawkeyes.
It depends on which Alabama team shows up.
As an Iowa alum and fan, we’re pretty hard to underestimate this year. I’m not carrying a pitchfork with the rest of the state looking for the younger Ferentz’s head on a platter (and getting it), but I also know that our defense and special teams are still carrying the offense, and we lost our big return guy.
The worst we’ve done is blow up a few poor schmucks’ record-breaking or record-tying over/unders, and even then we only hit the over by like half a point.
The horseshoe has to fall out some time. Next weekend seems as appropriate time as any.
I anticipate a rerun of the Iowa / Penn State game, rather than the Iowa / Minnesota game. If Michigan can only win by 2, they’ll deserve whatever decline they take from the sad win.
