[Wednesday update]

For those interested, ‘modprobe vboxdrv’ did the trick.

I was running Windows 10 in it on the Fedora host, and it crashed. I updated the entire system and rebooted. When I tried to restart the virtual machine, I got this message:

The VirtualBox Linux kernel driver is either not loaded or not set up correctly. Please try setting it up again by executing ‘/sbin/vboxconfig’as root.

where: suplibOsInit what: 3 VERR_VM_DRIVER_NOT_INSTALLED (-1908) – The support driver is not installed. On linux, open returned ENOENT.

  2. Once again using a not ready for prime time Linux distro is causing you trouble. Looks like a bad header file. I just got off the lawn mower. Let me get cleaned up and I’ll give you more info when I get back on my computer rather than the iPhone.

    1. OK, not a header issue, my bad. Your vbox install has a typo in the last file listed that is generating a compile warn which is actually an error.

      The compiler focuses right onto the problem. This file is missing a ‘*’ character after the first slash, i.e. that line should be:

      ^—this asterisk is missing.

      Try editing the file /tmp/vbox.0/linux/VBoxNetFlt-linux.c
      goto line 1570 and add the missing asterisk around column 40, save and then try to rerun the /sbin/vboxconfig

  3. So a valid vboxdrv did exist, but had not been added to the kernel. Whenever updates require a recompile of parts of the kernel, dkms should perform any magic additions needed to the kernel. So keep an eye out during Fedora updates and see if dkms is doing its thing.
