Assif Siddiqui says that we need new ways to think about it: “We need to let go of our nostalgia for Apollo and move on and work with different models to the old 1960s space races.”
I’ve been saying this for years.

Roll up NASA?
Where do we start!
Return it to its roots: NASA traces its roots to the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA).
Advisory. Committee. Not a multi-state federal bureaucracy that quickly becomes a self-serving enterprise focused on expansion and self-perpetuation. Break it up like the anti-trust campaigns.
Is it like already 45 years minimum that I’ve been working against Apollo reruns, or the steroid – enhanced version, or whatever????
I guess there’s always new generation that has to discover this on their own.
But here is a reason we started calling it New Space decades ago…
I’m old enough to have grown up venerating NASA.
Now I do SpaceX instead.
I may be old, I’m not stupid.
Who says that any terrestrial entity has any type of command over the rest of the solar system and its resources?
Space treatises signed on Earth were not signed in space.
Chamber selection matters.
We’ll be making our own space laws, same as every other folk who could get their own to their own claimed neighborhood.
Negotiations always come later.
Eventually, Earth be a place to visit but not a place to cast a vote.
Scares the hell out of them.
