Is it coming to an end?
We can hope. I would note to Joel, though, that Greg Gutfeld isn’t a conservative; he’s a libertarian.

It may be more of a personality type than an ideology.
I disagree with conclusions stated in the first 4 paragraphs:
Firstly they NEVER STOP.

More Evidence Liberalism Is Dead
https://townhall.com/columnists/emmetttyrrell/2011/01/13/more-evidence-liberalism-is-dead-n996541
In it he says:
As I say, liberalism is dead. This hitherto unthinkable effort to blame the unhinged act of a lunatic on the language of the right without respect to the often more inflammatory language of the left is a cry from the grave. Rigor mortis has set in, comrades, and even your president suffers. On the campaign trail in 2008, Barack Obama said, “If (Republicans) bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun.”
He was wrong…wasn’t he?
What you will see – what you are already seeing – is a transition from:
trying to use the institutions the way they were designed to get what they want
to
Destroying the institutions as designed and using the deformed institution to force what they want (see the methodologies of Schiff’s secret Russia investigation for example) and using extra-governmental methods to force people to their will.
And straight up lying propaganda.
They aren’t done. I doubt they ever will be done unless a massive preponderance of the nation wants it to be done.
Liberalism, as in classical liberalism, is certainly dead from the left.
“Classical liberalism is a political ideology and a branch of liberalism that advocates free market, civil liberties under the rule of law with an emphasis on limited government, economic freedom, and political freedom. It was developed in the early 19th century, building on ideas from the previous century as a response to urbanization and to the Industrial Revolution in Europe and North America.”
Progressivism is in no way anything like liberalism, especially not what is being pushed so hard today. Our best hope is that they overplayed their hand so badly that people will turn against them. We’ll see. Even if it happens like it did before with McGovern and Mondale, it comes back just like zombies.
Just look at the world around us: entertainment media, news media, ideas being publicly voiced, laws being passed, fringe politicians being elected etc.
Then ask yourself is 2022 more or less leftist than 2012? Was 2012 more or less leftist than 2002? Then compare 2002/1992, 1992/1982, 1982/1972 etc.
There may be a blip to the right every now and again but over every ten year period I see a continual march toward leftist ideology everywhere, I don’t see it slowing down. I hope I’m wrong.
The “Progressives” will shed their political skins and adopt some other identity… The belief in the all-powerful state solving all woes by stealing everyone’s property and freedoms — an endemic meme.
How do you get rid of an anthill? You kill all the ants.
