I’ve been in the circles of the rich and powerful. They don’t care about you, except to the extent that you can contribute to their wealth. I’ll pass, thanks. I like people and humanity.
I keep coming back to the concept of noblesse oblige. That your obligation to the betterment of the commonweal increases as does your ability to do so. When society concentrates wealth, its purpose is to realize bigger projects, not so you can live like a douche. Kind of why we have corporations, which serves to remove the the moral equation from such things. The moneyed class are still human beings, held to human moral standards. Or at least they should be. Of course, we all know the new golden rule: he who has the gold makes the rules.
….and now for our game “Who Said It?” On today’s show we feature two figures from popular culture, and it’s all about the rich, powerful and disconnected. ….and now you… get to figure out…. who said it?
Yeah, and…?
